Christ is Risen!
Beloved of the Lord,
Most of our Orthodox "Feasts" last for several days - most commonly eight days, what is called an "octave." The first day of the week is also the eighth day of the previous week - the beginning of a new seven day cycle. Christmas has twelve days. Pascha, the feast of feasts, has forty days.
In some ways the feast of Pascha is more difficult than the Lenten fast. It is very difficult to maintain a spirit of rejoicing for so long. A conscious commitment is absolutely necessary. Life in Christ is not just "our" life with belief in God sort of added on. It is a new life altogether: His Life, in us. Christ is Risen and He is "on the move."
Truly, He IS Risen!
Fr. Philip
